It’s no secret that Marvel movies are some of the greatest contributions to cinema ever. For years, they’ve been setting the standard for what a good movie should be, and they show no signs of slowing down any time soon.

The recent announcements by Marvel of Phases 5 and 6 of their Cinematic Universe only solidify this fact. This announcement signals more than just the expansion of a franchise, it is the creation of something entirely new, innovative, and captivating.

The Humble Beginnings

When Stan Lee and Jack Kirby created the first issue of The Fantastic Four in 1961, they had no idea that they were birthing what would become the most popular and profitable franchise in the history of cinema. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has its roots in Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s creation, but it has grown into something much more.

The MCU is a behemoth, a juggernaut, an unstoppable force. It has taken the world by storm and shown no signs of slowing down. The MCU has grossed over $22 billion at the worldwide box office and counting. To put that into perspective, the MCU has grossed more than the Harry Potter franchise, the Lord of the Rings franchise, and the Star Wars franchise combined. And it’s only going to keep growing.

The MCU is more than just a series of movies, it’s a shared universe, a universe better than our own. In the MCU, there are no boundaries, no limitations. The sky is the limit, and the possibilities are endless. Well… Almost endless.

The Biggest Issue.

There is one big issue holding back the MCU, and that has to do with rights. Currently, there are various other studios with their hands in Marvels pie. Sony still has the rights to Spider-Man and his related villains, The Incredible Hulk is still owned by Universal, and Man-Thing is seemingly still owned by Lionsgate… for now.

So what can we do about it? It is up to us to protest, to create petitions, to do everything in our power to get those rights back to Marvel. Only then can the MCU be truly complete. But it shouldn’t just stop there. Imagine if Marvel had the rights to everything. To every character, every franchise. Thanks to the power of Disney, this could happen sooner than we think.

A “What If…?” Scenario.

Let me paint you a picture, a picture of a world where Marvel has the rights to everything. In this world, the MCU is even bigger, even better. We would finally get that long-awaited crossover movie between the Avengers and the X-Men. We would get to see Batman and Iron Man team up to take down the Joker. Freddy Krueger would team up with Chucky to take on Michael Myers. The possibilities are endless.

And it’s not just the movies, it’s the TV shows, the comics, the video games. Everything would be connected, everything would be canon. It would be a true shared universe like we’ve never seen before.

Please, please, please. All I want to see is a film where Anton Chigurh slowly tortures Batman to death. That is all I ask. So, in conclusion, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is the greatest thing to ever happen to cinema. It’s a shared universe that has no boundaries, and the possibilities are endless.

With the recent announcement of Phases 5 and 6, the MCU is only going to get bigger and better. So let’s all do our part to make sure that Marvel has the rights to everything. Only then can the MCU be truly complete.
